"I Believe In You Iron Mason"

"We went to visit Mason today and his good friend Haeley sang this song she wrote for him. It was so nice to see him smiling and laughing!" - Michelle Roberts Evans

Happy 14th Birthday Mason! - Love Aunt Gigi

Mason's Birthday was June 15th!
Here is Mason early this morning. He is awake but showing me his drain from his brain is removed. Also, notice he does not have supplemental oxygen. He is happy to have a birthday and knows the hospital has big plans to make it extra special for him. I was sitting in the hall when Mason was born and heard his first cry, I was crazy about him from that second and it will never stop. Happy 14th Mason, your Aunt Gigi loves you!

To our friends, family, and complete strangers that have become our prayer warriors, thank you. Our family's nightmare is turning into a blessing and nothing short of a miracle how everything fell into place. Mason is stable and breathing on his own but still has a long journey to a full recovery. For those that don't know the background, Nicolle took him in the ER on Monday night for what we thought would be diagnosed as a migraine. An MRI revealed a large tumor on the right side of his brain. We are still in shock not just over the size but how little Mason complained, he had to be more uncomfortable than he lead on. We realize he was trying to be strong during his mom's chemotherapy treatment.
His surgery was scheduled for Fri but early Wed morning he quit breathing on his own and his brain began to swell. The doctors tried to get him stabilized before surgery but when his tumor started to hemorrhage, he was immediately taken in for surgery. His surgeons are confident they removed all the tumor; it is malignant but we are waiting to find out the exact type.
Yesterday he was taken off the ventilator and within minutes he opened his eyes and responded. He has his full memory and his sense of humor. His speech and recognition are there, but movement of the left side of his body will take some time to regain mobility. The doctors expect it to take about a month.
He is still in the ICU and his doctors are not allowing any visitors. We will try to keep everyone updated and are so thankful for all the love and support. Our family feels the love and prayers, keep them coming.
Thank you, from the entire Rowley family

He is still fighting! Never in my life have I been at the lowest of all lows and felt so empty and on the other realm felt so blessed. Nothing is going to take my precious son away from me! Thank you for the continued prayers we need every single one of them. This picture was just taken 12 days ago, how fast things can change. My love for him is indescribable!

Birthday Celebrations

Happy "10" Birthday to my baby girl Madi! She has been such a trooper through everything that's been going on since so much attention has been turned towards Mason. We celebrated at the hospital with her brother. I know she loves him so much! Thank you to the hospital for making it special day! - Nicolle

Here We Are 3 Weeks Later!

Here we are Three weeks later! Mason is doing great and improving everyday considering all his body has gone through in such a short time. We are so grateful for everyday that we have with him. Especially today! Mason wanted Dad to stay with him last night and watch movies together. Jesse is an amazing father, husband and man, I love him with all my heart! Mason and Madi think he is the coolest dad ever and they just laugh and laugh together! The best medicine for healing. We have had a special day with special visitors! There's no coincidence that Elder Palmer and Elder Foster were meant to be here this weekend, and they came to see Mason!

"I feel like there's been so much progress this week!"

"Best photo ever!! Mason's speech is getting so much more clear and only has the feeding tube. More movement on his left side. Still not eating a lot but it will come. I feel like there's been so much progress this week! And to top it off he got a visit from Elder Palmer and Elder Foster, (quorum of the seventies) that were down from Salt Lake City! Spirits were lifted today!"

Happy 14th Birthday Mason!

Happy 14th Birthday Mason! I will embarrass you with kisses forever every time I see you and never take you for granted again. Keep fighting, you're my little hero!

Mason is Making Progress.

Mason is making progress, it is small, but it feels huge. He is much more alert and breathing better but still on supplemented oxygen. He is able to cough up his own phlegm and clearing out his own lungs. Seems small but this means his brain is still able to control his lungs and that is huge. His mind is very alive and he was so frustrated he couldn't communicate with us.  The kid is so smart, he has made up his own language and we are learning it. It consists of toe tapping, leg movements, thumbs up thumbs down, hand squeezing, and a few easy words. We are starting to clearly understand what he wants to say. His walls are covered with cards and pictures and he knows everyone is thinking of him and praying. He still gets his dad's wicked sense of humor and I kept trying to stop Jesse to let him rest but I know Mason was giggling at all the jokes and funny photos last night. He should be able to write soon and I can't wait to see what else he has to say but in the meanwhile, he keeps saying thank you and please. It is a mumble but it is there and it blows me away how polite this young man is during this time.
